Who or what is covered by the Open Meetings Law?
The law applies to 'public bodies,' to include entities consisting of two or more people who conduct public business and perform a governmental function for New York State or any agency of the state; public corporations, such as cities, counties, and school districts, for example. City councils, town boards, and school boards fall within the category of those subject to this law.
