Question I am in the military and will soon be discharged. Does New York State have any programs to help pay for my education?

Answer Veterans who received the Southwest Asia Medal for service in Desert Storm/Desert Shield may be able to receive $1,000 per semester or tuition -- whichever is less -- for full-time; $500 for part-time, under the Persian Gulf Veterans Tuition Award (PGVTA). This program applies to undergraduate or graduate studies. Apply through your local State Veteran Counseling office or county Veterans Service Agency.
