What is the policy for towing tractor trailers that break down while traveling Thruway?

 There are different towing procedures for tractor - trailers on the NYS Thruway. Disabled vehicles over 10,000 pounds. registered to companies can be towed by their own commercial vehicles as long as they are within 100 miles of the vehicle. Vehicles involved in an accident have to be towed from the Thruway by an authorized towing garage in the area. Towing companies are dispatched from the Thruway’s Bureau of Communications. Towing rates for vehicles over 10,000 lbs. are available by writing to: Manager, c / o Traffic Safety Services, P.O. Box 189, Albany, New York, 12201 - 0189.
