How can I reduce land taxes on my woodland?

 If you own at least 50 acres of woodland, you may be eligible for a property tax break under Real Property Tax Law § 480a. You must have a management plan prepared by a private forester and commit your land to long term wood products production. There are substantial penalties for non-compliance. Call your local NYSDEC Forestry office for additional information.
