I am a member of the Teachers' Retirement System. Does a local retirement incentive payment or a payment for unused leave affect my retirement benefit?

 If your date of membership is prior to June 17, 1971, you are eligible for a five-year final average salary (FAS) calculation that can include such payments and will increase your benefit, if higher than your three-year FAS.
