What are the requirements for insurance coverage on automobiles registered in New York State?

 You must have NYS automobile liability insurance coverage on a vehicle registered in NYS. The insurance must be issued by an insurance carrier authorized to do business in NYS. You must have a NYS Insurance Identification Card in the name of the registrant. No out-of-state coverage of any kind is allowed.
