Answer For marriage licenses issued in one of the five (5) boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Kings, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island), please visit the New York City Marriage Bureau web page.

Answer For marriage licenses issued in New York State (outside the five boroughs of New York City), a copy can be obtained from the town or city clerk in the place where the marriage license was issued. For marriage licenses issued from 1881 to the present, a copy can also be obtained from the New York State Department of Health.
