 How do I renew a NYS driver license, learner permit or non-driver photo ID card? Can I renew when I am outside NYS or outside the US?
 The DMV web site has instructions to renew photo documents on-line, by mail or at a DMV office. You can renew when you are in another state or another country. If you renew a driver license on-line, you cannot change the address on your document or record or request that the DMV mail the document to another address.
You receive your photo document in the mail within four weeks after you apply for the document. You can check the mailing status of your photo document on-line.
If you did not receive your document within four weeks after you applied for the document, see the answer about photo documents that are not delivered.
If you did not receive a driver license renewal notice, the DMV cannot send you a new notice by request. You can renew on-line, by mail or at a DMV office.
