Question I want to get rid of my old home computer. Do I have to follow any special rules?

Answer The New York State DEC does not consider household electronics (e.g., home computers, home televisions) to be hazardous waste. Consider recycling your old unit by donating it to a charity or by taking it to a municipal recycling center that accepts electronic and computer equipment. Landfill disposal requirements for household wastes vary by municipality. Please check with your municipality for information about disposing of used electronics in your community.
