What is the New York Natural Heritage Program? Where can I find a Natural Heritage Program rare species reporting form?
The New York Natural Heritage Program, established in 1985, is a partnership between the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) and The Nature Conservancy. Their mission is to enable and enhance conservation of rare animals, rare plants, and significant natural habitats such as wetlands, grasslands and forests. For further information about the program or to download a rare species Natural Heritage reporting form, please visit DEC’s Nature Heritage Program web pages.
