What is the role of the State Workforce Investment Board (SWIB)?
The SWIB’s role is to assist the Governor in developing and improving the statewide workforce development system by assuring coordination among the programs administered by the One-Stop partners, allocating and distributing training funding to the local areas, developing performance measures, and formulating the State’s five-year strategic plan. The SWIB’s membership includes: the Governor, members of the business community (who constitute the majority of the Board), members of the State Assembly and Senate, several State commissioners, representatives of labor organizations, representatives of organizations involved in youth activities, local elected officials, and workforce development professionals.
