What types of welfare to work programs are available?
The Welfare-To-Work Division is responsible for promoting greater self-sufficiency of the State's welfare and low-income households through the delivery of training, employment and post-employment activities, programs and services. In conjunction with each local social services district, programs have been designed to meet the specific needs of welfare recipients. For example, English Language Instruction programs are available for those with language barriers, wage subsidy programs are operating in some areas of the State to create job opportunities for the hard-to-employ, and special activities are in place to improve the employability of individuals with work limitations. For more information, contact your local social services department or check the Department of Labor's website.
