 A significant coastal fish and wildlife habitat is a policy aimed at protecting the state's most important coastal habitats and serves or promotes one or more of the following functions: promotes the survival of a large portion of a particular fish or wildlife population; supports populations of species that are endangered, threatened, or of special concern; supports populations having significant commercial, recreational, or educational value; and exemplifies a habitat type that is not commonly found in the state or in a coastal region.
