How do I become a licensed security or fire alarm installer in New York State?

 An applicant must be at least 18 years of age and new to the industry. You must submit an application to the Department of State that verifies completion of 60 hours or more of qualifying education, passage of an alarm installer examination, and freedom from any disqualifying criminal violations.
